It has only been three weeks since I started at Snapmart but I have already learned so much from working closely with my team as well as with the other departments!

What's your job about?

Snapmart Inc. is an online grocery platform that provides end-to-end solutions for its partners to provide consumers with a wide selection of readily available fresh food and household essentials. The company, being a leader in the e-commerce industry, relies heavily on digital marketing to promote the business and to showcase its products, brand campaigns and promotions to its customers. As a trainee for campaign and marketing, my job is to assist in the preparation and execution of daily campaigns and special promotions. My tasks include creating campaign briefs and titles, creating app push notifications, copywriting, scheduling social media posts and stories, and weekly campaign performance reporting, among others. In essence, my job challenges me to connect with consumers and to achieve the company’s marketing goals through the application of digital technology.

What's your background?

I was both born and raised in the Philippines. From elementary all throughout high school, I attended Immaculate Conception Academy, an all-girls Catholic school. For college, I graduated from Ateneo de Manila University with a degree in business management. I always knew that I wanted to take up business management as it is a very broad course and I figured that it would give me a lot of career options and open up a lot of opportunities for me. Through this, I chose to take up digital marketing as an elective, which easily became one of my favorite classes — I found it challenging but still very fun and interesting. It was this class that inspired me to pursue a career in digital marketing; besides it being something that I enjoyed, I felt that it is a career with a lot of room for growth, and that would enhance my skill set.

Right out of college, I applied for the job through the Ateneo jobs and internships Facebook page. It has only been three weeks since I started at Snapmart but I have already learned so much from working closely with my team as well as with the other departments!

Could someone with a different background do your job?

Yes, I believe that someone with a different background can do my job. I think it’s a job that anyone can do as long as they are hardworking, willing to learn and passionate about it. Even though I'm a business major with a little bit of a background in digital marketing, I’m still learning — this job has been teaching me a lot of things that can’t be learned in school. If I can learn these things, I believe that others can, too!

What's the coolest thing about your job?

What’s cool about my job is seeing the campaigns I have worked on come to life. It’s also cool seeing how consumers respond to and interact with the different campaigns — I am able to get a closer look at what works and what doesn’t. Each campaign is really a new learning experience for the whole team and analyzing the data helps us plan for and create new and better campaigns. Although the job can get tiring, it’s very engaging and it is also rewarding to see my hard work pay off.

What are the limitations of your job?

Just like any other job, there are certain times when the workload gets heavy. Usually, this happens when we have big campaigns (ex: 11.11 sale) as there are a lot of tasks that need to be done in preparation for them. During these times, it’s common to have to work overtime or on weekends. However, instead of seeing it as a limitation, I like to see it as a challenge that will help me improve my skills and eventually allow me to do better at my job.

3 pieces of advice for yourself when you were a student...
