Job Satisfaction at GHD

Project management and admin. I have been given no project management training and am having to manage projects for PMs who do not care about their projects.

Emails. Teams meetings. Blue beam markups and actioning in autocad. Civil 3D Design. Lodging applications.

I have worked on a few different projects, but mostly doing similar repetitive tasks. I'm hoping to get some more interesting diverse work in the future once my current jobs are off my plate; it has been fine but mostly simple modelling / data entry / spreadsheet management / report writing / basic repetitive design, sometimes for interesting projects but the work itself has felt quite rote and not really engaging.

I am really lucky to be able to have flexible work activities which means I am able to split my time between working in the office and working out in the field so daily tasks don't become mundane and my routine is often changed.

I was mostly seconded to a company working on a technoeconomic assessment. The work which varied on a day to day basis. I would like to have more access to technical training and a variety of work

Content writing, CSEP, proposals. Admin.

Structural engineer. Design and structural analysis of building structures

I provide support on projects across all phases from inception to delivery. There is always multiple projects to work on which keeps me engaged in my work. My projects cover various topics and require different approaches, which keeps me actively learning and interested. I have had a number of opportunities to attend site visits which helps with practical learning and is always enjoyable.

My role is technical predominately and I help to deliver projects under the supervision of senior engineers. I am responsible for the progress of my projects and to raise questions or problem with the leads or project managers when something comes up.

As a graduate Structural Engineer I'm lucky enough to have worked on different varieties of design projects. so must of my day-to-day responsibilities are usually designing and doing calculation checks on the designs.

Reporting, safety documentation, trip planning, data entry etc all come within my scope.

I enjoy most of the tasks that I am responsible for. When workloads are at a good level, its a really great place to work. It can be frustrating if they are too low or stressful when they are too high.

Day-to-day reporting and inspections & advice, geotechnical assessments, DCP testing, and monitoring of areas for geotechnical risk / maintenance

My role is great when I have work coming in, however during quiet periods it feels as if I am stuck doing administrative work, stressing out looking for busy work to fill my timesheet, and am generally unsatisfied with the position. It feels as if I have not been given enough opportunities to progress as far as I should have this year.

My day-to-day roles change frequently which is very interesting

I work on a range of projects, with clients typically being utilities or government. I have had exposure to a range of technical work, client engagement and business development. I also think GHD does a good job at engaging young professionals in all aspects of the visit (i.e. logistics / operations / business cases / recruitment). The structure feels flat, and everyone is approachable.

I am a Graduate Civil Engineer. I have been here for almost 10 months but am not on a full-time project. With the projects I have been on I just help out the technical directors with various tasks from report writing, to drafting/design/calls. My day-to-day responsibilities are pretty light - usually, I just help out with admin tasks for the team.

I generally like my day-to-day responsibilities, especially if there is a delivery focus on projects that I have a long-term involvement with. However, if we are bidding for work over many weeks, this is less enjoyable.
